Celebrate Global Waste Pickers Day 2024

TANGERANG, CSR Activities – On Friday, March 1, 2024, Polindo Utama Hope Foundation (PUHF) announced a groundbreaking collaboration to empower and uplift the Waste Picker communities in the Greater Tangerang area.

This initiative, launched on March 1, 2024, is part of PUHF’s commitment to creating a more sustainable and equitable future. PUHF, a non-profit organization operating in the social and humanitarian sectors, was founded by PT Polindo Utama, a leading player in recycling plastic bottle waste, to address the often neglected social welfare of Waste Picker communities.

The collaboration with PUHF brings together diverse stakeholders, including the Local Community Women’s Group GMP 02, External Community Group GMP 01, Corporate Sponsorship Collaboration with Mayora Group, Government Partnership – Environmental Agency, and Landfill Management Support. This collective effort marks a significant stride towards establishing a more sustainable and inclusive waste management system. Together, these partners are steadfast in their commitment to championing environmental stewardship, fostering collaboration, and effecting positive change within our communities.

A primary objective of this collaborative endeavor is to alleviate the financial burden Waste Picker communities face, particularly during heightened expenses.

As we commemorate International Waste Pickers Day on March 1, 2024, we must acknowledge and honor the invaluable contributions of Waste Pickers to our communities. Let us collectively support them as they continue their journey toward a brighter and more prosperous future.
